June views: What to watch this month.

It's almost summertime...a few weeks away from the longest day of the year. Need something to stream, rent or watch on the screen?

1. American Playboy: Hugh Heffner story (Free on Amazon Prime)- The influence the Playboy brand had on history is fascinating. It is is fact based series of how a global empire was created. The series is a great history lesson, and not a sex show as one may think. And for those who are wondering, yes, the history of the bunny is explained. Fascinating binge series created from thousands of hours of tape, documents and history from Hugh Heffner and associates.

2. Walking with the Enemy- My memorial day rental from Redbox. This 2013 film is based on a true story of a young man seperated from his family in Hungary in World War II. A story of a real life hero and the extreme actions he took to save the lives of others.

3. Florence Foster Jenkins- (Amazon Prime) Another film based on an unusual true story starring Meryl Streep and Hugh Grant. Set in the 1940's the film showcases a New York heiress with a terrible voice, who dreams of being an opera singer. It reminds you of all the American Idol contestants who are encouraged by their families to audition, and they sound worse than fingernails on a chalkboard. Love is not only blind, but also deaf. I didnt think I would like this but I did-- and I actually laughed out loud.

4. Better Call Saul- (Netflix/TV) I'm watcing the second series of this prequel to Breaking Bad. It chronicles the life of lawyer/ con man Jimmy McGill before he invents himself as the lawyer in Breaking Bad, Saul Goodman. The creators are brilliant and the tension in every series is binge worthy. Worth watching a few episodes- you'll be hooked.

5. Heartland- Cowboys, young love, rodeos and family. Multi-generational series set in Alberta, Canada. Beautiful scenery. If you love horses, this one is for you. An easy to watch family friendly series.
